The Russian security men detained a resident of Heniches’k District, Kherson Region, occupied by Russia suspected of supposed participation in the “economic blockade’ of Crimea in 2015 – 2016.

As reported by the Russian propaganda media, security agency men claim that the man allegedly “guarded the Chonhar Checkpoint, where he was blocking the passage of vehicles delivering consumer goods for the residents of the Republic of Crimea.”

“A 54-year-old resident of the village of Rykove, Heniches’k Municipal District, is suspected of committing the crime under Article 208-2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation has established that in 2015-2016 he was a member of an illegal armed group operating in the territory of Ukraine, which activities are prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation,” the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

On January 16, 2016, the participants of the campaign for the civil blockade of supplies to the occupied Crimea left their checkpoints on the administrative border because the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banning trade with the occupied territories came in force. At the beginning of February, activists established ASKER civic group to collaborate with the border guards who served on the administrative border with the occupied peninsula. ASKER members patrolled the areas bordering the peninsula together with the police.

On March 28, 2016, “ASKER” started joint watches with Ukrainian border guards at the administrative border with Crimea.
