2 Years and 6 Months in the Settlement Colony Requested for a Crimean Put Behind Bars For Refusing Public Apology to Quisling Talipov’s Channel

“Prosecutor” has requested 2 years and 6 months of settlement colony in case of Dliaver Salimov, a Crimean Tatar, who was detained after his refuse to apologize in public for Telegram channel of quisling blogger Talipov.

The CHRG informs that the Salimov’s case is being considered by “Kirovskiy District Court” of Simferopol, “judge” Georgiy Tsertsvadze.

According to the CHRG, on August 11, 2023, Dliaver Salimov, a Crimean Tatar, when speaking with another resident of Crimea in the town of Staryy Krym, was outraged at his interlocutor’s wearing a head cap with the “Z” symbol. Mr. Salimov verbally threatened the opponent and, using obscene language, demanded to remove the cap with the Russian army symbols. This incident was recorded on video and later published in the “Krymskiy Smersh” and “TalipoV Online” Telegram channels supervised by the Russian security agencies.

Mr. Salimov’s name and patronymic were indicated in the caption under the video, accompanied with a death threat. After the publication, namely, on August 16, 2023, an administrative case was opened against Dliaver under RF CoAO Article 20.1 (minor hooliganism). On the same day, the “justice of peace” of Simferopol fined him RUR4,000 under RF CoAO Article 6.9-1.

In addition, on August 16, 2023, Anastasiya Bodenko, “judge” of “Kirovskiy District Court” of Simferopol, rendered a judgement on a 14-days’ administrative arrest of Dliaver Salimov under RF CoAO Article 20.1-1 (minor hooliganism).

At the same time, when communicating verbally with Dliaver, the Russian security agencies men demanded him several times to record a public apology for his act to be published on the “Krymskiy Smersh” and “TalipoV Online” Telegram channels.

Dliaver Salimov had refused to record a public apology, and on August 23, 2023, a criminal case was opened against him under RF CC Article 119-1 (threat to kill). The security agencies men again offered Mr. Salimov to record a public apology, that he again rejected. As a result, the charges against him were ratcheted up and he was deprived of his liberty.

On November 1, 2023, his acts were recategorized to RF CC Article 119-2 and the next day – on November 2, 2023, he was detained and placed in Simferopol Pre-Trial Detention Center no 1.

On November 2, 2023, Anastasiya Bodenko, “judge” of “Kirovskiy District Court” of Simferopol, rendered a judgement on Mr. Salimov’s detention for 52 days, till 23 December 2023. Later this period was extended.

The sentence under the article Mr.Salimov is being persecuted may be up to 5 years in custody.

The CHRG has informed that Crimeans are sentenced to penal colonies for posts on social networks.
