Occupiers Transported 60 Persons out of Simferopol, Including Abducted in Newly Occupied Territories

In late 2023, 60 persons including Ukrainians abducted in the newly occupied territories were transported from Simferopol Pre-Trial Detention Center No 2 to the territory of Russian Federation.

As the CHRG sources inform, the convoyed (specifically indicated by the FSB) were subject to the common practice – beating at each convoying stop (usually in the pre-trial detention centers).

The most inhumane transportation section is between Simferopol and Krasnodar, as prisoners are transported in vehicles in so-called “glasses”. This is a narrow, enclosed part of the cabin where one can only stand.

“The trip from Simferopol to Krasnodar takes more than eight hours, and all this time people have to stand in a very uncomfortable position, because all the prisoner’s personal belongings are also put in the “glass”. Due to the very limited space, it is impossible to sit there,” the sources informed.

To remind: transporting Ukrainian citizens to the Russian Federation violates Art. 49 of the IV Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War that prohibits the transfer of residents of occupied territories to the territory of the occupying country.
