Nine New Criminal Cases For Evading Service in Occupiers’ Army Started in Crimea

In June, 2021 the Crimean Human Rights Group recorded 9 new criminal cases against the Crimean residents under RF CC Article 328 (Evading the service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) and qq new sentences issued under RF CC Article 328.

Totally, as of the end of June 2021, the CHRG documented 227 criminal cases initiated for evading the RF Army military service, that were sent to the Crimean ‘courts’ for considering, with verdicts delivered for 210 of them and 17 being still under consideration.

We would remind that the conscription of residents of the occupied territories into the army of the occupying power as well as the ongoing propaganda of service in the RF Armed Forces on the territory of Crimea, violate Art. 51 of the Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (Fourth Geneva Convention), and the transfer of conscripted citizens of Ukraine from the occupied territory to the territory of the Russian Federation violates Art. 49 of this Convention.

The Crimean Human Rights Group has been collecting various evidence within investigating this crime, and together with other human rights organizations and the prosecutor’s office of the ARC has been submitting it to the International Criminal Court.
