Volodymyr Ananiev Was Transferred to Rostov – Wife

On 27 February, Crimean public activist Volodymyr Ananiev was transferred to Rostov, where the case against him will be considered by Southern District Military Court.

Anna Svyatnenko, the wife of the Kremlin political prisoner Volodymyr Ananiev, said this at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to the woman, her husband was held in the Simferopol detention centre for a long time. After that, he was illegally transferred to the Russian Federation.

Illegal transfer is a war crime of Russia against the civilian population in the occupied territory, added the head of the CHRG Board Olha Skrypnyk.

‘The so-called court hearings on his case are starting, they will be held in Rostov. His case will be considered by Southern District Military Court, which is another crime of the Russian Federation. Because International Humanitarian Law prohibits the trial of civilians by military courts. But most of our people from Crimea are tried by this court or other military courts in Russia,’ Skrypnyk said.

As we know, in February 2024, the FSS announced that it had detained a group of three people (V. Ananiev, V. Bodnar and a woman surnamed Shevchenko) in Crimea, who were allegedly preparing to blow up a car at the request of the SSU.

It is currently known that Volodymyr Ananiev was detained on 2 February, and the occupant ‘court’ took him into custody on 5 February. Ananiev is accused under part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives).

In November 2024, another charge was added to Ananiev’s case – Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (assistance in preparing to commit a terrorist attack).

Volodymyr Ananiev was a public figure in Crimea, engaged in legal and journalistic activities, actively participated in the land reform and defended the rights of landowners. He always supported the faithful of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
