Searches of Crimean Tatars’ Homes in Occupied Crimea

On 1 April, searches took place in the homes of Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea. The occupiers broke into the homes of four residents of Bilohirsk District. This was reported on Facebook by the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.

‘This time, the FSB punishers broke into the houses of Crimean Tatars living in the village of Ortalan (Zemlianichne, Karasuvbazar/Bilohirsk District). In four houses of Crimean Tatars, the punishers were looking for weapons and other prohibited items, including books on the banned lists,’ Chubarov said.

According to him, the parents of Crimean Tatar journalist Gulsum Khalilova, who works for the ATR TV company, live in one of the houses searched.

‘According to a report from the scene, the punishers, who broke into the Khalilov family, ignored the message that 75-year-old Khalil Khalilov had been ill for several days and was therefore in bed. Armed and masked FSB officers searched all the rooms in the house and seized all electronic devices, including phones. As a result of the excitement of ‘communication’ with the armed masked bandits, Khalilov got so sick that the punishers were forced to call an ambulance, which took him to the hospital,’ the head of the Mejlis wrote.
