In russia the criminal proceedings have been initiated against Vissarion ASEYEV, the HRD, the co–founder of the Crimean Human Rights Group for “terrorist calls”, anti–war post on the Facebook.
According to ASTRA media, the case was opened under the Article 205.2-2 of the Criminal Code of the RF (“Public calls for terrorist activity”).
The reason behind the proceedings was the Facebook post by V. ASEYEV as of 16 March 2022 “ Why for heaven’s sake…are the Ossetians coming to Ukraine to [disgracefully] die? Do stay at home! Do you fancy to kill? Then kill Putin!».
According to the occupiers, “the experts” allegedly have found this comment to be the information call for terrorist activity.
The sanction of the Article concerned envisages the imprisonment up to 10 years.
“Now I see why the law–enforcement officers came to my parents, despite the fact I left Beslan 15 years ago. Nowadays telling the truth about the regime, calling to action, to change of the situation are enough to entail the persecution, the criminal proceedings. This regime is terrified of truth, event silent truth. My list of friends on Facebook is quite short, it hardly can be compared to the lists of those numerous russian “foreign agents” who are proud of the status and dream of “great russia of future”, doing completely nothing to this end. It would be way more efficient, if each of them uses the social networks to call for actions aimed at the elimination of the regime and its proponents, to urge, for instance, to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Today the only way for the russians is to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces or to donate for it and publicly call to do so and support in any possible way”, – V. ASEYEV urges.
Vissarion ASEYEV is the HRD, the former deputy of the Assembly of the representatives of the Pravoberezhnyi district of the North Ossetia.
He was vocal against the political reprisals and the authoritarian trends, participated at the events of the “Joined civic front” movement, organized the rallies and picquets, including the protestations against the abolition of the election of the governors and against the gambling business in the region. On numerous occasions V. ASEYEV organized the protestations against the republican and the federal authorities. He is the founder of the Sunday school providing extra education for the kids of the needy families.
On 1 September 2004 V. ASEYEV got moderate injury while preventing the terrorists from seizing the school no.1 of Beslan. On 4 September 2004 the city hall considered the issue to cover the burial expenses for the families of the victims. Despite the injury, V. ASEYEV was there to urge the Government of the Republic to fund all the needs and to provide all organizational support to this end. On 12 September 2004 the teachers of the school no.1 and V. ASEYEV founded the civil society organization “Uchkom/The committee of teachers”, thanks to this organization the victims got not only the financial aid, but also medical aid: ten severely injured children were transported to Germany.
In 2005 V. ASEYEV was attacked by the unknown persons for his publication naming T. MAMSUROV to be not decent candidate to head the Republic of the North Ossetia.
In 2006 in the interview published in “Kommersant” media V. ASEYEV criticized R. KADYROV, in a short while after that a chair looking as an electric chair and an executed doll with the face of V. ASEYEV were delivered to his office.
Besides, at the material time there were few pending politically motivated criminal proceedings against V. ASEYEV in russia due to his public calls to get Putin removed from power.
From November 2013 on V. ASEYEV supported the Euromaidan and joined the rallies held both in Kyiv and in Crimea. In 2014 V. ASEYEV married Olha SKRYPNYK, the HRD, they and their colleagues founded the Crimean Human Rights Group.

In 2023 he was fined, in absentia, for RUB 45 000 for the “discreditation” of the army [of russia] – he publicly condemned the occupation of Crimea in one of his posts.
In May 2022, the General Prosecutor Office of the RF declared the Crimean Human Rights Group to be “ unwelcome in russia”.
