Oleksandr Tarapon was left in a colony for 2,5 years for the “fakes about the Russian Military”

On the 17^th of January, an appeal against the illegal sentence of a resident of Alushta Oleksandr Tarapon, who got 2,5 years of imprisonment in a colony in the case about the “fakes about Russian army”, was heard.

As the CHRG reports, an occupant “judge” of the “Supreme Court” Nadiya Shkolnaya kept in force an illegal sentence of 2,5 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony.

As the CHRG told, on the 21^st of October 2022, “Alushta Court” has awarded a sentence to imprisonment for two and a half years in a maximum security colony to the local Oleksandr Tarapon in the case about the “fake about the Russian army” (Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation data, a 31-year old male pasted up fliers about a relative of his wife, who participated in the war with Ukraine. To stop him and prevent the participation of family members in the war, Tarapon made fliers with a message “Here a war criminal and child murderer lives – Y. Orlenko” and pasted them up.

In the end of December, an information appeared that Oleksandr Tarapon was illegally convoyed to Russia. As on 13 December, the Kremlin’s prisoner was in Astrakhan, where he had to be convoyed to the final place of service of sentence – Makhachkala (Dagestan, Russian Federation).

We remind you that, on the 4^th of May 2022, Putin signed the law, which provided for criminal liability for “fakes” against actions of the Russian military. The law is supplemented by the Criminal Code of the RF, Article 207.3, which introduces punishment for dissemination of “knowingly false information about actions of the military forces of the RF” and for “defamation of the use of the Russian forces”. The penalty provided for in the Article is from a fine (in an amount of up to one and a half million roubles) to imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years. This law was passed very quickly. The proposal of amendments providing for a term “fakes about Russian army” became known on the 2^nd of March. The State Duma and Council of the Russian Federation approved the amendments on the 4^th of March.
