The occupiers have opened one more pre-trial detention center in Simferopol. This is SIZO No. 8 directly subordinate to the Russian FSB. Several sources in the occupied Crimea reported the CHRG thereof.
According to the Russian SPARK system that collects all public information about companies, “Federal State Institution “Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 8” of the Federal Penitentiary Service” was registered on October 24, 2022, with Mr. Rauf Idrisov named as its head.
The pre-trial detention center is registered in Simferopol at the address: 4 Elevatornyy Lane. Pre-trial detention center No. 2 is registered at the same address.
According to the CHRG, political prisoners, combatants, and pro-Ukrainian civilians who have not been charged with or being tried in falsified cases under the articles of “terrorism”, “sabotage” and “espionage”, are being currently held in SIZO No. 2.
The CHRG information sources in Crimea state that as of September 2023, nobody accused of “domestic” crimes was kept in SIZO No. 2.
To remind: according to the CHRG data, over 120 persons are being held in SIZO No. 2. The unlawfully detained people include civic activists, volunteers, and local officials. The Crimean Human Rights Group possesses verified information on at least 50 persons being held in this SIZO.
