Andriy Kolomiyets, the political prisoner, left colony after 10 years of imprisonment, but to date he is detained in the deportation center in Krasnodar region 

Halyna, the spouse of Andriy Kolomiyets, informs the Crimean Human Rights Group. 

According to her, so far it is not clear for how long the political prisoner will be detained in the deportation centre in the town of Hulkevychi.  

Andriy phoned, mentioned two other inmates from Kherson region: one was detained  there for a year and a half, another one – for 2 years and a half. So it is totally unclear when he can be finally freed. At last, I sent him everyday stuff, clothing, I plan to visit him soon”, – the spouse of the political prisoner claims.  

As one may know, for months and years the nationals of Ukraine are being detained in the deportation centres in the South of Russia while expecting the deportation homeAs the media state, once the verdict is served, the Ukrainians remain actually apprehended due to the prohibition to leave the deportation centre, the terms of their detention are being constantly extended. As per the human rights defenders, such practice is in severe breach of the human rights.  

As the Crimean Human Rights Group informed, Andriy KOLOMIYETS, the Euromaidan activist, had resided in Kyiv region and never in Crimea. In 2014 via internet he got to know Halyna, his wife-to-be, and went to see her in Kabardino-Balkarsk Republic (RF).  On 15 May 2015 the RF policemen apprehended A. Kolomiyets at her dwelling.   

He was severely tortured in order to get his confession. In particular, a plastic bag was put on his head, his fingers were clipped to the wires, a wet cloth was underneath his fingers and   the power was switched on. Consequently, Andriy incriminated himself. Then he was transported to Crimea and charged of attacking “the Berkuts”. As the defender of A. Kolomiyets claims, the prosecution referred to scarce evidence: there were only two black and white pictures showing a handful of ashes of the allegedly burnt uniforms of the security forces.  

On 10 June 2016 Mykhaylo BILOUSOV, the judge of Kyiv district courtof Simferopol, sentenced the Ukrainian to 10-year imprisonment in the strict regime colony.  Andriy KOLOMIYETS was charged of attempted murder of two expolicemen ofBerkutwhile the events on the Maidan in Kyiv: under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of RFmurder of two or more persons (uncompleted), Article 228 – drug storage, Article 30 – attempted crime.   

The General Prosecution Office of Ukraine denied the participation of Andriy Kolomiyets in attackingBerkut  

The Crimean Human Rights Group maintained the case was totally trumped up and politically motivated.  

On many occasions Andriy Kolomiyets was placed in penalty cell  of the russian colony for spurious reasons.
