A 66-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Sevastopol, Ms.Galina Dovgopoloya, was conveyed from the Simferopol pre-trial detention center to the Russian Federation to serve her sentence.
According to the Crimean Human Rights Group, now Ms Galina Dovgopolaya, presumably, is in the Pre-trial detention center no 1 in Krasnodar.
As reported by the CHRG, Galina Dolgopolaya was detained in November 2019 by FSB officers on suspicion of “committing high treason”.
On November 27, 2019, the ‘Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol’ ordered to remand her in custody. All the time before the verdict was pronounced, Galina had been in the pre-trial detention center. She was taken to the Lefortovo Detention Center in Moscow, and in early 2021 she was returned to the Simferopol one.
On March 24, 2021, the “Sevastopol City Court” sentenced 66-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Sevastopol Galina Dovgopolaya, under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (high treason), to 12 years of imprisonment in the general regime penal colony, with restriction of liberty for one year. Galina Dolgopolaya was accused of “secretly collaborating with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in order to carry out reconnaissance tasks” and allegedly collecting information about a separate aviation regiment of the Black Sea Navy, being a state secret.
The CHRG believes that the real reason for Ms.Dovgopolya’s detention is her political views. Galina has publicly expressed her disapproval of the occupation of Crimea, and also remained in contact with volunteer Ukrainian organizations operating in the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.
