Nasrulla Seidaliyev, a 62-year-old Crimean Tatar, was detained by security agency men on charges of allegedly participating in the Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion.
Lawyer Ayder Azamatov informed the CRIMEAN SOLIDARITY that Mr. Seidaliyev had been detained in Simferopol on charges of RF Criminal Code Art. 208-2 (“Participation in an armed formation“).
The man is credited with serving in the Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion, persecuted in Russia. The lawyer has not yet been officially introduced into the criminal case, and now Mr.Seidaliyev has been appointed a state lawyer. He will be soon subject to investigative actions.
According to the CHRG, as at the end of February, 2022 6 people deprived of liberty under a charge of being in N.Chelebidzhikhan battalion: Edem Kadyrov, Fevzi Sagandzi, Diliaver Gafarov, Nariman Mezhmedinov, Aydin Mamutov, Medzit Abliamitov.
The official reason for persecuting the accused in Crimea under RF CC Article 208-2 (Participation in the illegal military formation which activity objectives contradict the interests of the Russian Federation) is that they failed to come voluntarily to the RF law enforcement bodies and declare their participation in the ‘Crimean Tatar Noman Chelebidzhikhan Volunteer Battalion”. The evidence of the battalion actions against the RF interests declared by the investigation is the information of mass media that the purpose of the battalion establishment was to de-occupy Crimea.
The CHRG considers the persecution for serving in Noman Chelebidzhikhan battalion as politically motivated.
