A Couple Detained in Crimea in a New Case of “Railway Destruction”

A couple was detained in the occupied Crimea on the charges of “plans to blow up a railway track in Leninskiy District on the instruction of the Ukrainian security services” as it was said.

According to the FSB, two persons were detained, a man born in 1999 and a woman born in 2000. As claimed by the occupiers, the officers of Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine recruited the man via messenger in October 2023.

The couple was said to have been sending data on the Russian military and the Russian Army equipment as well as coordinates of the fuel and power facilities in Crimea.

“In April 2024, using the coordinates provided by the handler, the couple of agents took an explosive device from the hiding place in Sevastopol and tried to place it under the railway track at the village of Oktiabrskoye”.

The occupiers opened a criminal case under the articles “act of terror” and “illegal purchase, transfer, sales, storage, explosive substances or explosive devices committed by a group of people”. The couple was incarcerated.

As the CHRG has informed, at least 37 citizens of Ukraine are held in confinement under the Crimean cases of “Ukrainian Commandos and Spies”.  When detaining in these cases, the RF FSB accuses the Crimeans of “preparing subversions, storing weapons, and spying”. These are the cases in which illegal methods of investigating and torturing to obtain confessions, violation of the presumption of innocence, distribution of “confession” videos by the RF FSB through the Russian media have been recorded.
