On 15 June, 2017 during a regular court session in the “Supreme Court of Crimea” the defence of Akhtem Chiygoz, again stated a petition for his meeting with a dying mother.

The lawyer of Ahtem Chiygoza reported that the condition of his client’s mother health became worse. “Every day counts” – Polozov wrote in Facebook.

“Prosecutor Anastasia Supryaga objects. She says it is not stipulated by law. The court refused to satisfy the petition,” – the lawyer added.

The lawyer Polozov reported to the Crimean human rights group that the Crimean “court” has the opportunity to satisfy the petition of the defence of Chiygoz:

“Firstly, there is no prohibition to leave the pre-trial detention facility under escort for a meeting with relatives. Moreover, the law does not explicitly state that meetings are held only and exclusively in the detention facility.

Secondly, we proposed changing the measure of restraint to house arrest (temporarily) – this is directly regulated by law, “- Polozov explained.

Recall, that Ahtem Cheygoz was detained in January 2015 for participating in a rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in front of the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea on 26 February, 2014. Then the protesters were opposed by pro-Russian activists, including the “Russian Unity” party. The Russian authorities of the occupied Crimea accuse Chiygoz of organizing riots.

The decision in the case of Ahtem Chiyhoz is taken by three judges (Zinkov Viktor Ivanovich, Kryuchkov Igor Igorevich, Kozyrev Alexey Viktorovich).
