The Ukrainian citizen Balukh declared about the ethnic discrimination from the side of temporary detention facility workers in Crimea

In connection with this fact, on 24 April, a representative of the Russian ombudsman and a Crimean ombudsman visited Vladimir Balukh. Their visit was a response to the appeal of lawyers of V. Balukh in connection with the discriminatory and degrading treatment of Vladimir as an ethnic Ukrainian by the temporary detention facility worker in the village of Razdolnoe. He said that the staff insulted him because he did not hide his ethnicity.

During the meeting, Vladimir Balukh confirmed the attitude of the staff of the temporary detention facility with a mocking attitude to him. In addition, Balukh asked the commissioners to pay attention to the difficult physical condition of Karetsky Leonid Gennadievich born in 1971 in Kerch, who is in the cell with him and is suspected of selling drugs. Karetsky’s leg is rotting, there are signs of Parkinson’s disease, but despite this, he is not transferred to a hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

The secretary of the office of Crimean ombudsman refused to comment on the visit to Balukh in a telephone conversation, adding that if there was official information, it would be published on the website.

Recall that on the morning of 9 November, 2016, a Ukrainian activist Vladimir Balukh posted a sign “Street of Heroes of Heaven hundred, 18” on the wall of his own house in Crimea in Razdolnensky region. At 5 pm on the same day the chairman of the village council, Stepanuk Vitaly Viktorovich, came with two assistants and demanded to remove the sign. On 8 December, FSS officers came with searches to Vladimir Balukh in the village of Serebryanka of Razdolnensky district of Crimea. The searches were conducted for 4 hours in the houses of Vladimir Balukh and his mother. After the searches, the activist was detained. Employees of the FSS said that allegedly in the attic of the house where Vladimir Balukh lives, 90 cartridges and several TNTs were found.
