On April 17, 2025, the Supreme Court of Russia rejected the appeal of five Crimean Tatars: Akim Bekirov, Asan Yanikov, Eskender Suleimanov, Rustem Seitkhalilov, and Seitveli Seitabdiev.
This was reported by Crimean Solidarity, referring to lawyer Rustem Kiamiliov, who highlighted numerous violations at all stages of the investigation and trial.
Two motions were filed during the hearing.
“Eskender Suleimanov wanted the court to rehear the concealed witnesses who had lied throughout the trial and during questioning and interrogation. The court also rejected this motion,” Kiamiliov said.
Asan Yanikov requested access to the audio recordings of the first instance and appeal court hearings. The court also rejected this motion.
To remind: all the prisoners are serving sentences for their involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. Akim Bekirov, Rustem Seitkhalilov, and Seitveli Seitabdiev have been sentenced to 14 years in custody, while Asan Yanikov and Eskender Suleimanov – to 15 years.
