Ms. Lenie Umerova, a Crimean Tatar, was returned from the Russian captivity on the course of exchange.
As President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported, Ukraine held another exchange of captives and POWs with Russia. As a result, other 49 citizens of Ukraine returned home.
Among the returned military men, there are 23 privates and non-commissioned officers, 19 officers.
To remind: Leniye Umerova, aged 25, was unlawfully deprived of her liberty on December 4, 2022, when she was on her way to the occupied Crimea. She was going there to visit her father, who is suffering from cancer. At first, she was unlawfully detained in the Center for the Temporary Detention of Foreign Citizens near Vladikavkaz, then, until the beginning of May, in the Temporary Holding Facility of Vladikavkaz on fabricated administrative charges, allegedly for “disobedience to the demands of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation people.” In early May 2023 Ms. Umerova was moved to Moscow, Lefortovo Pre-Trial Detention Center, and accused of espionage.
