On October 29, the Southern Area Military Court of Rostov-na-Donu passed sentences for the defendants in the 3rd Bakhchisarai “Hizb-ut-Tahrir case.”
The court found them guilty on charges of “attempting to violently seize power as well as affiliating with a terrorist organization” and ordered the imprisonment of the defendants in the maximum security regime penal colony. This was reported after the court session by the lawyers of the convicted Crimeans.
Thus, Seytumer Seytumerov was sentenced to 17 years, Osman Seytumerov – 14 years, Rustem Seitmemetov – 13 years, Amet Suleymanov – 12 years to be served in the maximum security regime penal colony.
As noted by the Crimean Solidarity, Amet Suleymanov had been the only one of the defendants in the case who was under house arrest due to his health condition: he needs regular visits to the doctor, suffers from arterial and mitral insufficiency. He was also recommended to replace the heart valve. Osman Seytumerov, who is in the pre-trial detention center, also has a number of serious illnesses: mitral valve prolapse of the 1st degree, chronic gastritis, brain commotion and head trauma due to the road crash, astigmatism.
Lawyers informed they would be appealing the verdict.
