The “Zheleznodorozhnyi District Court” of Simferopol considered an appeal against the ruling of the “court of peace” against Mr.Bekir Mamutov, the editor-in-chief of the “Kyrym” newspaper who was charged under RF CoAO Art. 13.15 (“Abuse of freedom of mass information”).
“Judge” Yelena Toshcheva upheld the ruling of the first instance court and dismissed the appeal. The editor of the newspaper noted that he had not yet made a decision whether to appeal this decision in the court of cassation.
As reported by the Crimean Human Rights Group, Roskomnadzor sued Bekir Mamutov, editor-in-chief of the Qırım (KYRYM) newspaper, because in one of the paper issues the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people had been mentioned without a note that this organization was classified extremist in Russia.
On April 20, 2021, the ‘judge of peace of Kievsky District Court” of Simferopol found Bekir Mamutov guilty of committing an administrative offense and sentenced him to a fine of RUR4,000.
